At Walker Tape, we understand your desire to meet client’s individual needs. That’s why we’ve created a diverse array of tapes to choose from. We aim to make our tapes so you can find a perfect fit for every single client who sits in your chair.

Below, you can find which tapes we suggest based on your client’s specific situation.

Conveniently add any of these tapes to your cart on our online shop today!

Using Daily Wear Hair System Tape on Poly Bases & Sensitive Skin: 1522 Clear

1522 Clear Tape

1522 Clear is our most popular Daily Wear option. It’s known for the medical grade level of gentleness it has on your client’s skin. That said, 1522 Clear is on the shinier side of tapes, so it’s really best reserved for poly hair system bases where shine doesn’t matter.

Using Daily Wear Hair System Tape on Mesh Bases & Sensitive Skin: This Side to Base

This Side to Base

This Side to Base is a truly unique tape solution for clients with sensitive skin and mesh hair system bases. In fact, we’ve created this tape with a different adhesive with both gentle skin needs and mesh bases in mind.

One side is hypoallergenic for gentle performance on your client’s skin. Then, the other side is dull and perfect for Daily Wear holds to lace and monofilament bases.

Using Daily Wear Hair System Tape on All Bases & Sensitive Skin: Natural Hold

Natural Hold

Natural Hold is our strongest of the Daily Wear tapes. But its strength still has your client’s skin sensitivity in mind. It’s made with a hypoallergenic adhesive for an easier hold on skin. Natural Hold also offers a semi-dull look that works great with mesh systems.

Using Extended Wear Hair System Tape on Poly Bases & Sensitive Skin: Sensi-Tak Select

Sensi-Tak Select

Sensi-Tak is one of the most popular Extended Wear option in salons around the world. With Sensi-Tak Select, we’ve now made this international star hypoallergenic. Even more clients around the world can fall in love with its fantastic performance. Keep in mind, its shininess makes it best saved for clients with poly bases.

Using Extended Wear Hair System Tape on Mesh Bases & Sensitive Skin: Lace Front Thin

Lace Front Thin

Of all our Extended Wear options, Lace Front Thin seems to take the cake on selling points. It’s the thinnest tape we make. Combine that fact with its excellently dull wear, and you have the most natural-looking hairline of all our tapes. Plus, its hypoallergenic adhesive holds comfortably to your client’s scalp.

Using Extended Wear Hair System Tape on Poly Bases: Sensi-Tak, Super Stick, & German Brown

Sensi-Tak is our Extended Wear bestseller! It offers a reliable one-to-two-week hold that stylists around the globe trust. The shininess factor makes it best suited for poly hair systems.

Super Stick

Super Stick is known for its immediate stickiness, which is great for clients looking for the fastest results. It’s a strong hold right out of the chair and lasts up to 2 weeks. Since Super Stick is shiny, it’s best used under the cover of poly bases.

German Brown

German Brown has been an industry standard for years. While it has a semi-dull finish, this tape has a unique cream coloring to it that might stand out through mesh hair systems. For this reason, we suggest reserving it for poly bases.

German Brown is also a very popular option for track bonding. If you prefer working with hard bonds, we also suggest our PAT Tape that we’ve created to exclusively fuse with our hard bond adhesives.

Using Maximum Wear Hair System Tape on Poly Bases & Sensitive Skin: Pro-Flex II

Pro-Flex II

Here’s a true science-defier! Pro-Flex II achieves the longest hold of any medical grade tape we’ve ever seen. The phenomenal hold makes it the ideal choice for your Maximum Wear clients with highly sensitive skin. Pro-Flex II does shine, which makes it perfect for poly bases.

Using Maximum Wear Hair System Tape on Any Base & Sensitive Skin: Lace Front & No-Shine

Lace Front

Lace Front is probably the most famous tape in any salon west (and east) of the Mississippi. It’s loved for its dull finish and its reliable two to three week hold. Lace Front also works great on any system type and is hypoallergenic.

No-Shine is our strongest hypoallergenic option. Like Pro-Flex II, No-Shine holds gently to the skin longer than such a gentle tape should be capable of. Plus, like its name so subtly hints, it’s a great option for mesh systems too.

Using Maximum Wear Hair System Tape on All Bases: Duo-Tac, Ultra Hold Tape, Extenda-Bond Plus, & Walker Signature Tape

Duo-Tac offers a great two-to-three-week hold. One side is made to stick to poly systems, and the other side is made to stick to mesh systems. This versatility makes it a great universal option, whatever the base you’re working with.

You can also achieve an even more natural-looking hairline with Duo-Tac Thin.

Ultra Hold Tape

Ultra Hold Tape is a powerhouse. It’s one of the strongest holds of any tape on the market. Ultra Hold Tape also comes with a semi-dull finish that works on any system, including mesh bases.

Extenda-Bond Plus

Extenda-Bond Plus also has an incredibly strong hold with a semi-dull look that keeps the glare away on mesh systems. It’s easy-to-spot hole pattern makes it one of our more comfortable Maximum Wear tapes. This is because the holes make the tape more breathable.

Walker Signature Tape

Walker Signature Tape innovatively combines your client’s desire for as natural a look as possible that can hold for as long as possible. It’s the thinnest tape on the market for how long it holds. Considering its thinness and its dullness, Walker Signature Tape is the most natural-looking Maximum Wear choice.

Using Base Tape to Reinforce Hair Systems and All of the Above Tapes

Base Tape

Base Tape is used to reinforce and repair hair systems. As a System Care product, Base Tape helps extend the life of your client’s hair system. It interacts fantastically with all of the above tapes. This way, you can place Base Tape on the base and then bond our double-sided tapes to the back of the Base Tape.

This barrier can help prevent wear and tear on the system itself. Also, you can use Base Tape as a temporary fix on minor tears.

My name is Ria Lindauer, and I am a retail buyer who is having difficulty finding your excellent tapes. I am interested in purchasing “Ultra Hold” and “No-Shine” double-sided tapes. Might I purchase these items from you? (I currently have about 10 pieces left from a 36 pcs bag, and desperately need to find more quickly.) Thank you.

    • Emily Nikolaisen on June 22, 2020 at 4:10 pm

Hello Ria! Unfortunately, we aren’t able to sell directly to retail customers. However, you can try our Find A Salon/Distributor resource to find a stylist in your area that may be able to help. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to our customer service team. Thank you!

  2. Marcos on September 20, 2020 at 1:47 am

Hello! Which one for an UTS unit? Some of them are very dificult to detach from the unit.Thank you.

    • Emily Nikolaisen on September 23, 2020 at 11:48 am

Hello Marcos! From what you’re describing, it sounds like you’re working with a polyurethane system.

If you’re looking for short-term tapes that would be easier to remove, we’d recommend 1522 Clear, Natural Hold, Sensi-Tak Select, Easy Green, or Duo-Tac. Duo-Tac is our easiest to remove from poly systems if following the “Poly: This Side to Scalp” instructions, while also potentially having the longest hold of our shorter term tapes. But if you’re working with an ultra thin unit, you might want to go with Duo-Tac Thin. These tapes tend to remove without leaving much residue and also have a stiffer carrier to make it easier to remove the tape in one piece.

If you’re looking for a longer hold, we would recommend Walker Signature Tape. It’s our thinnest long-term option and also leaves less adhesive residue. You could also give No-Shine a try. No-Shine’s bond isn’t quite as strong as Ultra Hold or Extenda-Bond Plus when first applied, but the hold ends up building to be as strong as Ultra Hold when all is said and done. No-Shine also tends to be slightly easier to remove as well.

We hope this was helpful, and if you have further questions, please contact us! Thank you!

  3. Jessie on February 28, 2021 at 2:34 am

Hi. Out of Signature tape and Easy Green, which one is likely to leave the least residue. Or are they much the same? Thanks.

    • Emily Nikolaisen on March 1, 2021 at 11:36 am

      Hi Jessie,
Both Walker Signature and Easy Green have are about a medium on the residue scale. For the easiest removal, C-22 is the best remover for both tapes!

  4. Dylan on October 10, 2022 at 2:42 pm

Hi, I have an ultrathin skin PU system. I’ve used Supertape and it is very difficult to remove from the ultrathin skin PU base, I’m afraid of ripping the unit, and it leaves a gummy residue. I don’t do extended wear, I always remove it everyday. I don’t like to use any products, i just want to remove the tape and be done with it. I don’t mind using alcohol for removal if it’s necessarily, but that is all. Would alcohol potentially ruin a skin PU base? Or could the alcohol potentially dry out the unit’s hair? The hair on my unit is a mix of human and synthetic hair. It is very silky and fine hair, a great unit. I just need to find the best tape for this. Please let me know which tape would be the best for my situation which I have described to you. I don’t want residue clean up, and of course i would like the tape to be undetectable, no shine etc. please let me know. Thank you!

    • Emily Nikolaisen on October 18, 2022 at 3:07 pm

Hello Dylan! You may need to seek the advice of a professional stylist to ensure all of your needs are being met. While we are not stylists, we can provide you with information about our products, as well as make basic recommendations.

Sensi-Tak or Sensi-Tak Select are great options for a residue-free removal process. They are popular for poly units because of the easy cleanup. Both of these are not daily wear tapes but they may be a good option for you to try.

Our 99% Alcohol is a preparation tool to remove oils, dirt, and residue from skin. We don’t recommend using it on a unit as a remover since it can be drying. If you choose to try it on the unit, please remember to always test on a small area first.

If you need further consultation or recommendations for more specialized use, you can find a stylist close to you by using our Find A Salon/Distributor website feature. They can assist you with product use, install/removal, and purchasing our products. Thank you for your comment, and we hope this helps!

  5. Dylan on October 21, 2022 at 9:54 pm

Hi! Thank you very much for responding. But I remain confused. I don’t need to see a professional stylist at all. I just need to know one thing, and that is, what is the best tape for an ULTRA THIN PU BASE. I don’t ever wear the hair more than one day before removing it. I don’t sleep in it. I want a tape that is easy to remove from the base without residue. I DON’T WANT TO HAVE TO USE C-22 AT ALL. I also like the tape to be undetectable. Now that I’ve clarified what I’m in search of, please lemme know your thoughts. Thank you.

    • Emily Nikolaisen on October 24, 2022 at 11:00 am

Thank you for clarifying your needs further! I would still recommend trying Sensi-Tak or Sensi-Tak Select as they have a residue free removal process and are ideal for polyurethane bases. If you’re not interested in those options, I would suggest trying 1522 Clear. It’s our thinnest daily wear tape at 6.3 mils thick. 1522 Clear also leaves very little residue and is ideal for polyurethane bases.

    • John on September 8, 2023 at 12:39 am

I am not a Walker Tape representative, but I have some information you may find useful. First, alcohol is safe to use on a poly base. It won’t damage the material. Second, I work in the hair system industry and I keep a very close eye on user issues and methods. Most people who remove their hair system daily don’t remove the tape every time. They typically leave it on for a week to 10 days and then remove it. They reactivate the bond of the tape by spraying a mist of alcohol on it (99% pure). The system is kept upside-down overnight, of course. Using this method would require much less time spent on removing and cleaning the tape.

  6. Dylan on April 12, 2023 at 11:17 am

    Hi Emily!!!

I tried Walker 1522 tape as you suggested and it is very easy to remove from the Polyurthane base of my unit with no residue which is great! However, the big problem is that the tape is very detectable on the front hairline. I had used Walker’s No Shine tape in the past but that one was too difficult to remove and left a residue mess.

So my question is this: Is there a tape that is BOTH: EASY TO REMOVE WITHOUT RESIDUE and at the same time UNDETECTABLE? Again, i have a think PU base (not lace!)

please lemme know as soon as you can as I need to order this today to receive by tomorrow. I will be doing stage performances real soon. thank you!

    • Trey Pasch on April 12, 2023 at 1:58 pm

Hello Dylan! We’re glad to hear that 1522 Clear was able to help. Our next suggestion would be our Lace Front Thin tape, which is similar to 1522 Clear, but offers our most natural looking hairline and is great for all systems. However, it does have a longer wear time of about 1-2 weeks. We recommend talking to a stylist to see if this is the best option for you, or if there is another tape that’s better suited to your needs. You can find a stylist to consult with here. We hope this helps. Happy Wednesday!

      • Dylan on April 12, 2023 at 2:11 pm

Hi Trey, I have an ultrathin POLY base, NOT LACE.
SO what tape would you suggest?

Also, I have no intention to speak to a stylist.
So please let me know in regards to my question. Thank u

      • Trey Pasch on April 12, 2023 at 2:26 pm

Hello Dylan! Lace Front Thin tape works great on all systems, including ultra thin poly bases, and we recommend it for achieving the most natural looking hairline.

        We hope this helps!

      • Dylan on April 12, 2023 at 8:43 pm

        OK thanks, one last question:

Is the Lace Front Thin tape as easy as 1522 to remove from the poly base? With 1522 i can just peel it off the system without haveing to use any solvent or product like C-22. Can I also remove LACE FRONT THIN from poly system base without any C-22?

      • Trey Pasch on April 13, 2023 at 9:32 am

Hello Dylan! While Lace Front Thin has an easy removal process, the delicate mesh base that gives it the most natural hairline can tear and lead to the tape peeling off in multiple pieces, rather than in one piece like 1522.

        We hope this helps!

      • Dylan on April 23, 2023 at 11:39 am

I ended up ordering the LACE FRONT TAPE and used it on my poly base front for a live performance I was doing.

-First of all, the tape is just as detectable as the 1522 and Sensi-Tac tapes, both of which i also have.

-Second of all, it was VERY HARD to remove the tape from the base. It left massive stickiness, and i was afraid of tearing the base when i was trying to gingerly remove the tape from the base, but i really had to pull hard.

I will never use this LACE FRONT THIN tape again. Please tell me how i can get all that residue out now from my poly base. This is hands down my favorite hair piece, it’s very unique, so please now let me know how to undo the residue damage done by the LACE FRONT THIN tape.

        awaiting your response,
        thank you

      • Trey Pasch on April 24, 2023 at 10:52 am

Hello Dylan! Lace Front Thin is one of our most popular and best-selling tapes, so we’re sorry to hear about your troubles with it! To remove the residue, we recommend trying Action. It’s safe on skin, quick to remove adhesives, and can easily be cleaned with soap and water. Since you mentioned that this is your favorite hair piece and are worried about damage, we recommend trying Action on a small, inconspicious portion of your system before doing a full removal process. If you need support beyond this, please contact our Customer Service team, and they can provide additional help and product recommendations.

We hope this helps. Happy Monday!

      • Dylan on April 30, 2023 at 7:13 am

        hi Trey,

How is ACTION different from C-22? I read the description and C-22 says for HIGH residue while Action only says for MEDIUM residue. The residue on my ultrathin polybase is definitely high, so I should I be using C-22 instead? Please let me know.

      • Trey Pasch on May 1, 2023 at 10:51 am

Hello Dylan! The residue for our removers refers to how much it leaves behind, not necessarily what it will take off.

As for the differences, Action leaves behind less oily residue, and removes adhesives faster than C-22. You can view our removers guide in our catalog for more information.

We would recommend Action remover, as it is our best bet for removing any adhesives or product, and will be an easier cleanup than C-22.

We hope this helps! Happy Monday

Not impressed with the Lace Front at all. After two days hairline started to lift. After two weeks there is total mess and had to work hard to remove the residue from the lace. On the other hand, extenda bond plus was flawlessly removed from the lace and all the residue was left at the scalp. I used Lace Release both times. I will try extenda bond plus on the hairline this time, hopefully it’s not visible.

    • Trey Pasch on May 8, 2023 at 11:18 am

Hello Jason, we’re sorry to hear that your experience with Lace Front was unpleasant. We always recommend talking to a stylist (which you can find here), as they will have the knowledge about which tapes may work best for you, as well as how to maximize a tape’s full performace.
We are glad to hear Extenda-Bond Plus was able to provide a comfortable and easy removal for you! Extenda-Bond’s thickness comes in at 10.5 mm (2 mm thicker than Lace Front), so it should be a good, low-profile option for your system.

We hope this helps. Happy Monday!
