Frequently Asked Questions

FAQS

This FAQ highlights some of the most common questions our customers have about Walker Tape.

As an international customer, will I be charged extra fees for bringing Walker Tape products into my country?

As the customer, you are responsible for all duties and taxes associated with your order. Because each country does things a little bit differently, you are responsible for knowing how to handle shipments in your specific country. We are here to help as we can, but we highly recommend working with someone in your local area who can ensure you understand the full process as it pertains to your location.

Once the shipment arrives at your local customs, you will be contacted to pay those fees. It goes much easier and faster if you already have a broker who can help you clear the package through customs. We can provide SDS and Product Data Sheets as needed.

Does Walker Tape offer any type of certificate or certification program?

Walker Tape does not offer any type of certificate or certification program. We have had several counterfeit Walker Tape certificates brought to our attention. These are not official Walker Tape documents and should be disregarded.

Can I order products from your website?

Yes!  If you have not received a link to setup your account, please contact us, and we will be happy to assist you.

Which tape is best for lace fronts?

Any of our tapes will work on a lace front unit.  However, we recommend using a tape with a dull finish to make sure it doesn’t shine through the unit.  Our favorites are Lace Front and Ultra Hold Tape.

Do you have an MSDS sheet for your tapes?

Adhesive tapes do not have an MSDS sheet as the hazardous chemicals are evaporated and gone when the tape is created. We have a data sheet available on our tapes upon request stating the basic makeup of the tape and the specific thickness. We also have a letter available detailing why a tape does not require an MSDS sheet.

Why can’t I get a total with shipping when I place my order?

Because shipping costs are calculated by weight, we won’t have that information until your order is packed and weighed.  Once your order is ready, we can contact you with your total.

Can I get tracking information by e-mail?

Yes.  Any customer that requests tracking information will have it e-mailed to them. If you do not receive tracking information, please contact our customer service team directly for assistance.

Since there are so many sizes and shapes of tape, what is the best way to order?

Tapes come in different sizes and shapes, so remember to be specific when ordering.  When ordering contours, choose a shape (Example: A, B, C, etc.) and also a type of tape (Example: Sensi-Tak, 1522 Clear, Lace Front Support, etc.).  When ordering rolls, choose a width (1/2”, 3/4”, 1”, etc.) length (3 yds,12 yds, 36 yds) and type.

For example:

“I would like to order two dozen German Brown double B’s and five 3/4” x 12 yard rolls of Sensi-Tak”

When will my order ship out?

Our shipping times vary based on the size of the order as well as the time of day the order is placed.  We guarantee that orders under $1000 will ship by the next day, or we pay shipping.  Custom orders and orders over $1000 can take up to five business days to ship.  (If you want expedited shipping on your order, the order must be received before 12 pm MST.)

What is the shelf life of your products?

We guarantee our products will last up to 6 months for our adhesives and 12 months for our tapes.  Please contact your customer service representative with any issues.

Which of our products have the strongest hold?

Ultra Hold Tape and Ultra Hold Adhesive are the strongest. They are maximum hold and, depending on body chemistry, hold for up to 4-6+ weeks.

Which products are best for sensitive skin?

We recommend using a preparation product such as Scalp Protector before applying tape or adhesive to sensitive skin. 1522 Clear is an excellent product for sensitive skin, as it is hypoallergenic, and the adhesive is very gentle. For removal, we suggest S3 Sensitive Skin Solvent. It’s our most gentle solvent and still works very well to remove adhesives from the skin.

Can our wholesale customers resell products? How can resellers get great images of Walker Products?

Yes. We love our resellers and want to be sure that all online listings of Walker Tape product are accurate and have great images. Our wholesale customers can use any of the images on our sites to list our products online. If you need help getting images, please ask our customer service department for assistance.

What is the best remover for maximum wear?

Our best and most popular remover throughout the world is C-22. It works very fast and is extremely effective. If you’re looking for something that works as well as C-22 but leaves less oily residue, try Action.

When will Soft Bond and LiquiTape be available?

Sadly, we’ve had some supply issues for these adhesives, and they will most likely be unavailable from this point forward. However, we have some even more exciting silicone adhesives in the works. If we do have Soft Bond and LiquiTape, our email list will be the first to know. If you don’t receive our emails, contact our customer service department to get signed up.

Is it safe to apply the ultra hold glue if theres a small open wound on the scalp?

    • Emily Nikolaisen on September 22, 2020 at 10:51 am

Hi Brian! We recommend avoiding applying tapes and adhesives to open wounds. Instead, work around the wounds to allow them to heal. For more information on this topic, check out our blog post which covers how to work with clients who have sensitive skin or skin conditions.

Hi Natanael! I’m sorry you’re experiencing this issue with Ultra Hold. It may be that the product isn’t being sealed properly after use so I would suggest making sure the bottle is tightly closed before storing. Hello,
Which adhesive would be best for daily wig use and removal. Have chemo induced baldness & like to wear wig when going out but remove when home (when not expecting company) . Are any pf your products appropriate for daily use?
    Thank you,
    Bonnie

    • Emily Nikolaisen on March 1, 2021 at 11:31 am

Hi Bonnie, depending on the wig base, we have a few tapes we recommend for daily use! If it’s a mesh base, This Side To Base is perfect. For Poly bases, we recommend 1522 Clear. Our most popular daily wear tape is Natural Hold, which you can use on any base. Those are the three tapes we recommend for daily wear!

    Hi!
How toxic are your blue tab wig/toupe tapes? Is much of it absorbed through the skin? Wondering if it’s safe for me to wear while breastfeeding.

    Thanks!

    • Monique Morrison on May 25, 2021 at 3:03 pm

Hello! If you’re talking about our Lace Front Tape, it’s hypoallergenic!

  6. Shani on July 2, 2021 at 11:33 am

Hi, i have a query for Ultra hold adhesive do we need to apply that on any particular type of tape or just directly to pur scalp and attach the unit press it and thats it? I am afraid directly in contact of ultra hold with the unit will damage it. Were using walker hard bond before on red tape. Thank you

    • Monique Morrison on August 12, 2021 at 4:41 pm

Hello! Ultra Hold is safe to go directly onto the unit and scalp. If you are using a lace hair system, we do have Top-Loc Knot sealer that will create a barrier between the unit and the adhesive and help protect the lace knots. https://blog.walkertapeco.com/product/top-loc-knot-sealer/

  7. Brandy Dean on October 11, 2021 at 12:56 pm

hello, can wholesalers resale as private label for their business?

    • Monique Morrison on October 12, 2021 at 10:59 am

Yes, you can do that! Please reach out to our customer service team at [email protected] or 1-800-759-5150

  8. Paul on December 7, 2021 at 2:42 pm

How quickly does ultra hold take to dry ?
Is it best to avoid activities in the first 24 hours?

    • Monique Morrison on December 13, 2021 at 1:39 pm

Hello! We usually say to wait 72 hours for our tapes and liquid adhesives to fully dry before getting them wet. However, our product Max Hold Sport (https://blog.walkertapeco.com/product/max-hold-sport/) helps to speed up dry time, allowing a client to wet their hair after just 24 hours of drying.

  9. HST on March 24, 2022 at 5:08 pm

Hey, how safe is ultra hold tape? I have researched the ingredients inside it such as toluene which appears to be harmful and toxic. Please can you advise

    • Monique Morrison on April 5, 2022 at 1:20 pm

Hello! Thank you for your inquiry regarding our products. I want to assure you that we take your concerns very seriously, and I wanted to share with you some information to assuage these concerns regarding our products and, more specifically, the ingredient toluene.

According to the CDC, toluene is one of the most abundantly produced chemicals in the United States and is extensively used in both the glue and pharmaceutical industries, among others. Though toluene can cause acute systemic toxicity if ingested and can be a mild irritant to mucus membranes when those membranes are exposed directly to toluene, studies of the chemical in works and animals exposed to it generally indicate the chemical is non-carcinogenic. Additionally, the International Agency for Research of Cancer has determined that toluene is not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity in humans. Plus, the toluene in our products evaporates almost instantly so it does not spend time sitting on the scalp.

That being said, there are some countries and states that do prohibit the sale of products containing toluene for varying reasons. With that in mind, I invite you to review the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s public health statement regarding toluene (https://wwwn.cdc.gov/TSP/PHS/PHSLanding.aspx?id=159&tid=29).

I hope this clearly addressed your concerns. Please, if you have any additional concerns, questions, or thoughts on this topic, don’t hesitate to let us know.

      Thank you.

      • Mkay on October 12, 2022 at 6:24 am

Hi this is a very poor response. You say til owner is not a carcinogenic but there are other risks it can cause permanent cognitive decline and other neurological side effects, are these being brushed under the carpet?

      • Emily Nikolaisen on October 25, 2022 at 2:06 pm

Hello Mkay, our apologies. In reviewing the initial response to this comment, it does not clearly address the concern.

During the tape curing process the tape becomes inert, meaning it is chemically inactive. The toluene contained within this product evaporates almost instantly. That means that it is not present within the tape to spend time sitting on the scalp. This product is not regulated under, and a MSDS is not required by, the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) because when used as recommended or under ordinary conditions, it should not present a health and safety hazard. Here is a link to the OSHA guidelines: https://www.osha.gov/laws-regs/regulations/standardnumber/1910/1910.1200.

We aim to be open and up front about our products and their ingredients as we stand behind them fully. We’re happy to discuss this more with you. Please email us at [email protected] or call at 1-800-759-5150 if you have any further questions or concerns and we’ll be more than happy to assist you.

  10. HST on March 25, 2022 at 5:24 am

Hey, I was wondering if you could send me a copy of the letter justifying why tape doesn’t require an MSDS sheet and also the data sheet on Ultra hold tape. Thank you

      • Ash on October 16, 2022 at 11:36 am

Is it safe to use on Strip lashes?

      • Emily Nikolaisen on October 17, 2022 at 10:58 am

Hi Ash! We do not recommend using our product for false eyelashes. Our tapes and adhesives have been made to be used with hair systems applied to the scalp only and have not been tested for use near the eyes. Thank you for your question, and best of luck with finding an eyelash glue that will suit your needs!

  11. Eric on August 21, 2022 at 3:45 am

    Hi There

Could you tell me if using Ultra Hold glue and applying it to the scalp in an air-conditioned room will effect the bonding of the system and length of adhesion to the scalp at all?

Can the Ultra hold tape be applied on top of the Ultra Hold glue on the perimeter lines to help prevent the system from lifting to quick?

    • Emily Nikolaisen on August 31, 2022 at 9:00 am

Hello Eric! Thanks for reaching out about Ultra Hold liquid adhesive. I can understand where your concern is coming from, but an air conditioned room should not affect the bonding or hold time of the adhesive since the temperature is not extreme (see more about how temperature affects adhesive here). You can use Ultra Hold tape for a perimeter bond and Ultra Hold liquid adhesive for the body of the hair system. That may help some of the lifting you’re having. I would also suggest using one of our scalp protectors prior to install, if you happen to have one on hand. Please contact our Customer Service team if you have any further questions, and best of luck with your Ultra Hold application!

  12. Daniel Guajardo on November 14, 2022 at 2:18 pm

Do you have an MSDS sheet for your Walker Tape Glue ?

    • Trey Pasch on November 15, 2022 at 8:37 am

Hello Daniel! Yes, we do have MSDS sheets for our glue-based products. Those sheets will be on the product’s specific page, under the “cautions” tab. Here’s Extreme Hold, for example. We hope this helps.
      Happy Tuesday!

  13. Harvey on April 30, 2023 at 6:55 pm

My ultra hold and extreme hold are too thick to use after only a few uses? Is there a way to thin it down so I can still use them??

    • Trey Pasch on May 4, 2023 at 9:44 am

Hello Harvey, we’re sorry to hear about the thickness problems you’re experiencing with Ultra Hold and Extreme Hold. We’d recommend putting just a few drops of our Mity-Tite adhesive into both Extreme Hold and Ultra Hold, which should help thin the adhesives down to be usable again.

With proper storage (in room-temperature, away from humidity, light exposure, and properly sealed), our adhesives will last up to 6 months. For individual storage information on each product, please refer to the product listings on our website. If this continues to be a problem for you, please reach out to our Customer Service team and they can help work with you to find another solution.

We hope this helps. Happy Thursday!
