Amazing Questions We’ve Received Over 2021

COBRANDWeirdQuestions_Blog

Over the course of a year, we get a lot of great questions, for both Walker Tape and Beautify. We love hearing from you and finding the best way that we can help answer your questions!

While we do our best to answer each question individually, we thought it’d be a helpful way to wrap up 2021 by going over some of them in more detail together. Some are great questions that you may have asked yourself. Others are much more specific and may help if you run into a similar situation one day.

How Do You Melt Liquid Adhesive If It Hardens in the Bottle?

Unfortunately, you don’t. If your liquid adhesive has hardened in the bottle, then it has expired. At this point, it’s time to break out a new bottle and start fresh!

To help avoid this, make sure that you’re storing your liquid adhesive correctly. We recommend keeping it in a cool, dark, dry place with the cap on tight. This also helps keep your product stock fresh.

Do I Have to Store Hard Bonds in the Freezer?

This is a common question since it’s on the label. The truth is, it’s not required. But it can really help to extend the shelf-life of the hard bond.

Much like liquid adhesives, hard bonds can go bad quickly if not stored right. Keeping them in the freezer before they’re opened may help avoid a potentially faster dry out time. After you’ve opened it, store the Hard Bond in a cool, dark, dry place with the cap on tight.

How Should I Increase the Hold on a Hard-to-Stick Client in a Tropical Environment?

This is another question that we get a lot, which makes total sense! Clients who sweat a lot and produce more oil can make bonding difficult. It can be even more difficult in areas with high heat and humidity. That’s where scalp protectors come in.

If you’re unfamiliar with our scalp protectors, it’s time to get better acquainted. We have two of them. In order from strong to strongest, they are:

These products are designed to be applied to the scalp before an install. They create a slight barrier between the adhesives and your client. Scalp protectors help shield the adhesive from the sweat, oil, and water of everyday life, boosting their hold. As a bonus, they also help protect your client’s skin from any reactions that could be caused by the adhesive.

So, if you’re struggling to get a tape to stick or if a client has more sensitive skin, try one of our scalp protectors and see if it helps. If not, it might be time to try a different tape or adhesive (we’ve got great options to choose from!).

How Do I Stop Tapes from Melting?

This is generally a bit more geared towards hair extensions installs. When installing tape-in extensions, we encourage stylists to use a quick hit of heat from a flat iron to help cure the tape in place. This can be a bit of a tricky practice. If you use too much heat for too long, you’ll end up melting the tape, which can cause all kinds of problems.

The best way to avoid this is by being very fast and super careful. Also, don’t turn the heat up too high on the flat iron. When sandwiching the tapes with the tool, be fast. Only hold it there for a quick second or two, then let it go so that it can cool down.

Just this extra bit of precaution can help make sure that your client leaves your salon looking and feeling amazing.

Can You Use Our Shampoos and Conditioners for Daily Use?

The quick answer to this is:

  • Yes to the conditioners
  • No to the shampoos

Our Bond Breaker Shampoo, Extension Prep Shampoo, Beautify Leave-In Conditioner, and Leave-In Conditioner can be used to make systems and extensions last longer and hold better. But you do need to be aware of how you used them.

Our Bond Breaker and Extension Prep Shampoos are very strong. They’re designed to strip bio hair, extensions, and systems of anything that may decrease an adhesive’s hold. Using them every day could damage and strip the bio hair of the natural oils that it needs to stay healthy. The everyday exposure to this type of clarifying shampoo  can also cause the adhesive to lose its hold.

Our Leave-In Conditioners, on the other hand, are great for everyday use. It provides your client with the moisture and rejuvenation that keeps their hair looking hydrated and amazing.

It’s also good to note that washing hair with a system or some extensions isn’t a very good idea. It could cause the tape to lose its bond prematurely, especially if they wear a Walker Tape daily wear option.

Can I Use Max Hold Sport and Scalp Protector Before Liquid Adhesive?

Yes! We absolutely encourage it. Using these products before the adhesive helps them work better since they can build the layer of protection that they’re designed to give.

However, if you’re talking about using both scalp protectors at the same time, that’s a different story. There’s a chance that using two scalp protectors at the same time could make it hard for the adhesive to bond. So, it’s probably best to choose one or the other based on your client’s preferred wear experience (but having both on hand is a good idea).

Are Your Products Gluten Free?

Working with allergies can be challenging, so we love that you’re so dedicated to making your clients feel happy and safe at the salon. If you’ve ever been concerned about your gluten intolerant clients, there’s no need to worry about Walker Tape or Beautify products. We create our products without any gluten-based ingredients.
