Answering your FAQs about MOVs.

 

As a distributor or a salon owner or a stylist, you’ll often hear many, many different terms and lingo being thrown around between parties. One that is commonly heard between supplier and customer is “MOV”, but what is that?

 

Today, we’re going to find out!

What is an MOV?

 

MOV stands for Minimum Order Value.

 

Most wholesale retailers will have a minimum order requirement to even place an order with them. This amount can be in quantity of items bought or in overall price of the order. If the total MOV is not met, then an order won’t be able to be placed with that retailer.

 

Why Do Wholesalers Have MOVs?

 

There are two primary reasons that wholesalers require MOVs, especially when they work on an international scale:

 

  • Cutting down on shipping costs.
    • For larger companies, shipping costs can shoot through the roof when lots of orders are placed. So, to cut down on fees, MOV’s are put in place.

 

  • To help meet the cost of production.
    • Raw ingredients. Supplies. Shipping materials. Shipping costs. Machine maintenance and repair. Parts, tools, and pieces. Storage. There are many costs that go into maintaining a manufacturing company. MOV’s help to meet those costs and keep us running to our best efficiency.

 

What If My Order Doesn’t Meet the MOV?

 

No need to worry! Walker Tape® offers two solutions when this kind of situation arises:

 

  • Use our “Find A Salon/Distributor” tool, to find businesses near you that sell Walker Tape® products.
    • As a wholesale retailer, we sell to both local stores and distributors. If you only need a few products, you can use this tool to find a store that carries it. Just put in your zip code, city, or region and it will show you all of the businesses by you that sell Walker Tape® products.

 

  • Buy products in bulk. By ordering bulk, you can save in overall shipping costs for your orders.

 

On top of that, the more an order weighs, the less you will have to pay in shipping. Shipping price is determined by weight, so while the price tag may be higher for larger orders, the overall price-per-pound cost of the shipping decreases.

    I don’t understand why I would have to buy in bulk. I am in a home small busines . Iam in Taylorsville Utah and I always drive there to pick up my product. My mom has been a client (Apperance Plus) ever since you were on 39th South and 700W. Before that Appollo Hair. I quess us small guys don’t matter. Very disturbed about this issue.
