Replacement Tape for Extensions.
What Is Replacement Tape for Extensions?
Replacement tapes are double-sided tape adhesives designed to replace the original tape on tape-in wefts after use, allowing the hair extensions to be reused for another installation.
When it’s time to remove and reinstall the hair extensions, the original tape weft is removed (using specialty removers) and replaced with replacement tape so that the extensions can be used again.
This not only extends the life of the hair extensions, but also helps keep your client’s hair secure without needing to purchase a new set every time.
How Does Is Replacement Tape for Hair Extensions Work?
Replacement tapes are pretty simple. One side sticks to the extension weft, and the other bonds to the client’s bio hair. The tape is pressure-activated, with just a light tap from a hair straightener. Most replacement tapes hold for about 4-6 weeks with proper install. After that, the process repeats!
Replacement tapes are pre-cut into tabs that fit extension wefts, or are available in rolls that stylists can trim to size.
How to Use Replacement Tape for Hair Extensions?
The process to use replacement tape is fairly simple:
- Using an adhesive remover, like No Trace™ or C-22® Solvent, gently remove the old adhesive from the bio hair and the extension weft.
- Using Beautify™ Weft Release™, remove leftover adhesive from the extension weft tabs, then cleanse with soap and water. This ensures a clean and strong foundation for the new replacement tape to stick to.
- With Extension Prep Shampoo, wash the client’s bio hair to cleanse and rid any oils, residues, and buildup. Let it fully dry before installing.
- Once the bio hair and the extension have been cleaned, place your chosen Beautify replacement tape onto the clean weft. Peel off the liner, and install it on a thin section of the client’s bio hair, sandwiching it with a second extension if desired.
- Once the extension has been placed in the hair, quickly tap a flat iron to activate the bond and hold. This ensures a long, strong, and secure hold.
How to Remove Replacement Tape for Hair Extensions
Removing replacement tape/hair extensions is just as easy as install! Simply:
- Spray the remover (such No Trace or Extension Release™) directly on the tape tab/extension weft, then let it sit for 30–60
- Next, gently peel the extension away from the hair.
- Use Weft Release™ to clean the adhesive tape from the extension weft, and prepare the weft/extension for
- Once the extension is removed, wash the extension and the client’s bio hair with Extension Prep Shampoo™ to fully cleanse the leftover adhesive residue.
