Here at Walker Tape, we make both tapes and liquid adhesives. They’re both great options for securing hair systems, but tape will always have a special place in our hearts. It’s a super versatile option and can be used with lots of different base materials without damaging them.

Why is Tape Incredible?

natural holdTapes are generally much easier to apply and remove than liquid adhesives. Because they’re more forgiving during the install process, tapes can be a great way to get into working with hair replacement systems. Tape stays where you put it! Liquid adhesives, on the other hand, can run a bit. If you’re having trouble placing the tape, or are still learning how to work with hair replacement systems, try our Just-Rite Positioning Spray. This handy spray delays the hold of the adhesive and allows you to get perfect placement, every time.

It also completely cuts out the occasional downsides that are associated with liquid adhesives. For a start, tapes aren’t flammable like most liquid adhesives are. This is because the chemicals used during the manufacturing process are flashed off while the tape is curing. This reduces your client’s exposure to chemicals making tape a great option for clients with more sensitive skin. Tape can also be a less expensive product to ship because it’s not handled as a hazardous item, like liquid adhesive would be.

Easy Application

If you’re looking for an even easier way to apply our tape, we have a quick application hack to make our tape almost effortless to apply. The way to do this quick pro tip is to start your install with the hair piece inside out. Once it’s inside out, place the system on the mannequin head and start applying your tape tabs or strips. This makes placing the tape so much easier than trying to apply liquid adhesive.

Using Both Tape & Liquid Adhesive

Depending on your clients’ preference, as well as your application method, you may want to use a combination of both tape and liquid adhesive. The way that many stylists do this is by using glue at the front of an exposed hairline and tape throughout the rest of the unit. This gives a comfortable hold at the sides and back, while remaining low profile where it counts at the hairline.

contoursKeeps You Moving Fast!

With a quicker prep time, tape gets your client in and out of your chair faster than liquid adhesive. The tape will stick and adhere as soon as it’s placed. This means your client can leave as soon as their unit has been applied and go about their day, all while the tape cures on their head.

Tape is easy to apply, as well as quick to remove. With the right products, our tape comes off cleanly and leaves little residue on hair units.

Tape wears incredibly well too! Our extended wear category can last up to 2-4 weeks, depending on the application method you choose. Just keep in mind, that there may be some trial and error involved in which type of tape formulation is the right choice for your client, their hair system, lifestyle, and environment.
