Getting Ready for Install

Getting ready for install.

Removing, cleaning, prepping, and installing a hair system is almost like a journey of a thousand steps – namely because it seems there are a thousand steps that go into making sure everything is right with both system and client.

That’s why we’re here to help you master a specific aspect of hair systems – getting your clients ready for install with Walker Tape® prep products.

Preparation is the most crucial step of the hair system experience. Without prep, installation can potentially fail, leading the adhesive and system to slip and come loose, which can spell disaster for the wearer.

Preparation starts with:

1. Bond Breaker Shampoo

Once the hair system and the adhesive have been successfully removed from the scalp, now comes the first step to getting ready for install – cleaning the scalp. That’s where Bond Breaker Shampoo comes in.

Using a carefully crafted formula, Bond Breaker washes out the initial layer of larger leftovers left from removal – residual stickiness and adhesive, solvent remover, sweat, buildup, etc. – from the scalp, scrubbing and bathing it all squeaky clean. Essentially, it is the all-in-one cleaning tool.

This may be the most important step in getting your clients ready for installation!

Bond Breaker Shampoo is for professional use only. It is not recommended for daily use.

2. 99% Alcohol

A clean scalp is the most vital aspect of a successful installation. It’s what allows the adhesive to bond fully and get a strong, secure hold. Which means that after cleaning away the bigger stuff with Bond Breaker, the next step is to get a deeper clean for the scalp with 99% Alcohol.

99% Alcohol further cleans your client’s scalp of any dust, dirt, oils, and dead skin cells, or any other micro particles that might have a negative impact. This helps smooth the bonding surface for the best results.

Without a thoroughly clean surface to stick to, both tapes and adhesives can potentially fail, leading the hair system to come loose earlier, and more openly, than the wearer would like.

3. Max Hold Sport/ Scalp Protector.

If you live in a warm, hot, or humid climate, chances are you’ve faced issues with sweat and heat playing games on the overall installation process. It’s a problem. A problem that Step 3 was built specifically to solve.

Once the scalp has been fully clean and cut, but before the adhesive foundation is laid, place a layer of scalp protector onto the scalp.

Scalp protector helps to protect the scalp from potential irritation from sweat, oils, adhesive, etc.; while also boosting the hold time of the adhesive by providing a clear & clean surface for it to stick to.

Walker Tape® offers two scalp protectors, depending on the wearer’s specific situation: Scalp Protector, and Max Hold Sport.

4. Just-Rite Positioning Spray

The fourth and final step of getting ready also comes during the most crucial, trembling part of the install: placing the unit.

Placing the system exactly where it needs to be on the scalp is critical to giving the wearer an all-natural and comfortable wear. But, once the adhesive is stuck, that’s where the system stays. Except when Just-Rite Positioning Spray is involved.

With each spray, Just-Rite Positioning Spray delays the adhesive’s stick, allowing you to make placement adjustments to the scalp and getting the ideal placement required. And it evaporates away for no cleanup needed.
