Now that you have your dream hair, you need to learn how to take care of your extensions and know what to avoid.
- Avoid any shampoo and conditioner that has silicone in it. This will make your hair extensions loosen and fall out.
- Do not wash your hair within the first 48 hours of having your extensions installed.
- Braid / Plait your hair at bedtime to avoid tangling and matting.
- Get a hair extension brush. They make these brushes to help protect your hair. Please use one!
- Do not over wash your hair. Over washing will make your extensions look dull and worn out. If you must shampoo, consider using a dry shampoo.
- Do not over brush your hair. Over brushing will pull hair out of your extensions.
- Avoid chemically treated water and salt water. These chemicals will break down your bond and make your extensions slip out.
- Keep your appointments with your trained, certified stylists. You can’t leave your extensions in for too long or it will cause major breakage to your natural hair.
These are just a few of the tips that you need to keep in mind now that you have the hair you have always wanted. Make sure you ask your stylist for shampoo and conditioner recommendations!

I have a cut similar to the before picture of the model- just with a bit of an undercut. I showed the stylist the picture of what I wanted : “Keep my length in the front; I part my hair to the side when I don’t style it up (like a faux hawk [sp*]”.
I showed her the reference picture, which shows EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR AND WAS PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD…and she begins to cut…my bangs…🤔😳. I am not…I repeat: I AM NOT A HAIRDRESSER NOR DO I CLAIM TO BE ANY GOOD AT IT, BUT even I could tell that she wasn’t giving me what I asked for.. I basically have a friggen mushroom cut, and she had to be TOLD BY THE OWNER to ACTUALLY FINISH THE JOB AND STYLE MY HAIR LIKE HOW SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO. Anyways, I am not happy, I feel like I look like a boy (I used to have hair past my tailbone like 2 years ago, and I know it doesn’t define me, but it was a part of my identity in a way…and I felt sexy and beautiful. I want to feel like that again, instead of being frumpy and depressed. Like I can barely do anything that looks good, and I miss my long hair. So I need to know: 1. I want to get a decent quality, but I would like the best deal possible.
2.I would like them to be able to last fairly long as well.
3.I would like them to be comfortable and look natural, with the ability to put it up in a pony tail.
So with all that, what do you suggest?
