Exercising with a hair system.

One of the more frustrating things to deal with as a hair system wearer is maintaining your regular exercise routine. Sweat can potentially mess with the adhesive, unfortunate tugs and strain can yank the system, buildup of smells, etc. All of it a tedious and unfortunate pain.

Luckily, there are a few ways to make exercising with your hair system easier. Here are some tips for exercising with a hair system:

1. Let the Bond Cure for the full 24-48 hours.

After your hair system is installed, wait at least 24-48 hours before engaging in any kind of workout, or interacting with water in anyway.

The adhesive bond – either tape or liquid adhesive – needs time to fully set and harden before jumping into strenuous activities. So, waiting at least 24-48 hours will allow you to fully activate your bond and ensure it stays during workout.

Of course, you can skip this waiting period by applying Max Hold Sport scalp protector to the scalp before layering on the adhesive.

2. Use Scalp Protector for Better Adhesion

Speaking of scalp protectors, applying a scalp protector before bonding can help strengthen the adhesive bond and protect the scalp from irritation.

Before applying your adhesive or tape, use a scalp protector like Scalp Protector™ or Max Hold Sport™. These products create a barrier that helps the adhesive last longer, even under sweaty conditions.

3. Secure Your Hair System Before Exercising

Having your hair system or wig swinging or bouncing around during exercise is not recommended. All of that causes straining and pulling on the adhesive, which can weaken the bonds and loosen the system free.

  • If your system is long or voluminous, tie it back in a loose ponytail or braid to prevent excessive movement and tangling.
  • Wear a moisture-wicking headband or sweatband to absorb sweat before it reaches the adhesive.
  • Avoid touching or adjusting your system too frequently, as this can weaken the bond.

4. Post Workout Care

Maybe the most important consideration to consider is post workout care. After exercising, keeping your hair system clean is crucial to maintain the adhesive’s strength.

Their a few tips for post workout care that will help maintain your system with a regular exercise routine:

  • Wash your system regularly, using Bond Breaker Shampoo 1-2 a week to get a fuller clean.
  • If you need a quick refresh without a full wash, Leave-In Conditioner™ can help defrizz and revitalize the hair.
  • Touch-up the adhesive or the hairline with Mity-Tite adhesive, making sure to use 99% Alcohol™ to remove excess oil and sweat from the scalp before reapplying.

All these tips and tricks above will help you best maintain your hair system while also keeping your exercise routine up and running without any hitches.
